Interior Painting

Interior painting prep at Beams & Dreams means every nail hole, ding, and crack gets filled with appropriate compound—setting-type Durabond on plaster, joint compound on drywall. We caulk every trim-to-wall gap for crisp lines and use specific primers for water stains or bare drywall. Our standard wall spec is Sherwin-Williams Emerald Interior or Benjamin Moore Aura, and we use Benjamin Moore Advance for trim and doors—a waterborne alkyd that cures to an incredibly hard finish. Every project includes a free on-site color consultation and our Good-as-Gold Guarantee: we don't consider the job complete until you walk every room with us and sign off.

Exterior Painting

Exterior prep at Beams & Dreams is where the longevity of your paint job is determined. We start with power washing at appropriate pressure, followed by mechanical prep—scraping by hand and sanding every transition. We verify surface moisture with a calibrated meter before any application, because paint applied to wood above 15% moisture content will fail. We use oil-based or Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 primers for superior adhesion on weathered wood. Our product standards are Sherwin-Williams Emerald Exterior, Duration, or Resilience (for high-humidity river corridors). We even handle HOA color approval documentation for communities like Chenal Valley and West Little Rock.

Cabinet Refinishing

We remove every door and drawer front, label them, and spray them flat in a controlled environment. This produces a finish that is smooth to the touch and visually equivalent to factory cabinetry—no brush marks, no roller stipple. For the common red oak cabinets in Central Arkansas, we use high-build grain-filling primer and shellac-based sealers (Zinsser BIN) to block tannin migration and hide the open grain. Our standard finish is Benjamin Moore Advance, a waterborne alkyd that resists heat and moisture near ovens and sinks. We don't reinstall until you've walked the kitchen and checked every door in multiple light sources.

Wood Staining

We use penetrating stains—not film-forming products—for all outdoor wood. Penetrating stains absorb into the wood fiber and fail gracefully by fading, whereas solid stains peel in sheets. Our process includes power washing, wood brightener, and a minimum 48-hour dry time before application. We use back-brushing techniques to drive the product into the grain. For full-sun decks in areas like West Little Rock, we specify Defy Extreme or TWP 1500 Series for enhanced UV blocking. We also handle interior wood staining for stair treads and trim, using oil-based polyurethanes for high-wear areas and waterborne finishes for low-odor interior trim.
